has been in book publishing, publicity, marketing, and communications for more than 20 years.  He is an honor graduate of the U.S. Army Communication School in Fort Gordon, Georgia and is an honorably discharged veteran.  After completing his tour of active duty, he attended Villanova University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude.
Upon graduation, Sam was hired as manager of corporate communication for The Franklin Mint (TFM). Sam worked to promote TFM’s numerous collectible products lines, the exhibits at TFM Museum, and TFM’s annual events, such as their Doll and Teddy Bear Show and the Antique Automobile Festival. His role and responsibilities increased over the next eight years until he became acting publisher for The Franklin Library, the book division of The Franklin Mint. In this role he oversaw all aspects of publishing including: acquisition, negotiation, production, design, layout, commissions, royalties, sales, advertising, shipping, distribution, customer service, etc.
During his stewardship of The Franklin Library, the company partnered with many authors who received numerous accolades and great commercial success including Michael Crichton, Anne Rice, John Irving, Scott Turow, Amy Tan, John Updike, Tom Robbins, William Goldman, T.C. Boyle, Caleb Carr, Joan Didion, Norman Mailer, Thomas Keneally, Tom Wolfe, Ray Bradbury, Philip Roth, Susan Sontag, Mario Puzo, Joseph Heller and many others.
In March 2001, Sam became director of publicity for Running Press Book Publishers. In addition to acquiring books by local-Philadelphia authors like Michael Smerconish – Flying Blind and Delilah Winder, chef/owner of Bluezette – Delilah’s Everyday Soul, Sam acquired books by Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell, Drew Struzan, John Paul Strain and established solid relationships with licenses including The International Spy Museum, The Forbes Collection, The Barnes Foundation, and Desilu, Inc.
As director of publicity, with duties covering publicity, marketing, and advertising, Sam and his staff planned and executed campaigns for approximately 150 titles yearly with an annual expenditure budget of $750,000.  He has worked promoting both regional and national authors and celebrities such as Pat Croce – 110%, I Feel Great and You Will Too!; Stephen Hawking - On the Shoulders of Giants, God Created the Integers; Larry KaneTicket to Ride, Lennon Revealed; Malachy McCourtDanny Boy, John LithgowBoredom Blasters; Walter StaibThe City Tavern Cookbook; Walter Ganzi and Bruce BozziThe Palm Restaurant Cookbook, Alan AxelrodEverything I Know About Business I Learned from Monopoly, Donnie BrascoThe Way of the Wiseguy, and the dearly departed Fred RogersMister Rogers Parenting Book.
His publicity work has placed authors on most every major television program including Today, Live with Regis and Kelly, The View, Food Network, Good Morning America, O’Reilly Factor, Oprah, Martha Stewart and World News Tonight.   Sam has had feature articles, interviews and reviews in most every national magazine including Parade, Time, People, Entertainment Weekly, Gourmet, TV Guide, Fortune, Nature, Architectural Digest, Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, Sports Illustrated, Playboy, Rolling Stone as well as coverage in most of the top 50 newspapers in the country and military publications.
In 2006, Sam established Excalibur Media to support any type of media roll-out, special event, publishing endeavor or marketing campaign.  Recent and current projects have included promoting a theater production in Chicago and Atlantic City, New Jersey, marketing a new high-end recording studio in Philadelphia, launching a new patented surveillance product and the national-to-local publicity and event campaign for The Medal of Honor (Artisan).
Sam is also a consulting agent to The Literary Group International and has written a book, City In Time: Washington, DC for Sterling Publishers which will be released in spring 2008.
Having lived in and around Philadelphia throughout his life, Sam’s media, arts, business, and publishing contacts in the greater Delaware Valley area enable him to get most any task accomplished.
